Zenyatta
Undefeated in 19 of 20 races, surpassing Cigar and Citation and equal to Eclipse
In 2009, the year in which Rachel Alexandra stole the headlines and won the Eclipse Award, Jerry and Ann Moss’s mighty 17-hand Zenyatta kept right on racing and winning…all the way to the Breeder’s Cup where she re-wrote racing history in 2009 by beating an all-male field to become the first filly ever to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Indomitable on the track, this “super filly” won 19 consecutive races in her 20 race career, outperforming former consecutive win record holders Cigar and Citation and equaling the record of the great Eclipse, for whom racing’s highest honors are named. Despite a superior effort, Zenyatta was bested by a head in her final race in the 2010 Breeder’s Cup Classic, and is now beginning a new career as a broodmare.
Zenyatta was named the 2010 Horse of the Year at the Eclipse Awards, in addition to picking up her third Eclipse Award for Top Older Female. She was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in April 2016.
Zenyatta was immortalized as a Breyer model in 2010.
