Exclusively for Breyer Collector Club members! Breyer test run models are initial decos painted up to see how a particular color might look on a particular sculpture. Or, they may be created to test out a painting technique or new colorway. Not all test run models are used, and they may vary over time as different painting techniques are developed and tested. Each model has a fixed price and interested members enter a random draw for the ability to purchase the test piece.
Cedarfarm Wixom (mold #573) was introduced to the Breyer line in 2001, and this test piece likely dates to a similar time period based on her style of paintwork. She is painted as a splatter-style bay roan with detailed tri-eyes, a white tail ribbon, and a single white sock.
As a true test model, the Bay Roan Wixom is not in perfect condition. She does have shiny marks (predominantly on her left side barrel) and some noticeable rubs – one eartip, one shoulder, one hip, and one slight hoof edge – from being handled at Breyer HQ over the years. She still has an incredible presence! See gallery for details. This piece of Breyer history is priced at $850 and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
