Meet the 2024 Breyer Essay Contest Winners!
Three winners each received a special Breyer model of their horse - one of which is coming to the Breyer regular line later this year!
We mentioned this in our weekend recap post back in January, but now that BreyerMidwest is coming up next weekend, we wanted to remind everyone about our awesome timed painting contest that anyone in the BreyerMidwest area can compete in!
After the conclusion of the Youth & Novice Model Horse Show on Sunday afternoon, so probably around 3 pm (but we will know for sure that day), anyone in the BreyerMidwest area is invited to participate in a timed painting contest.
Entrants will receive only supplies available at Stablemates painting and will have 60 minutes to paint their horse. Participants can enter one of three divisions – Realistic, Fantasy/Unrealistic, or our Theme division, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” – our Wizard of Oz-inspired theme in honor of being in Kansas!
Realistic deco horses should be just that – from bay pintos to palominos, we want to see your most beautifully painted Stablemates scale model inspired by a real horse.
Fantasy/Unrealistic decos can be inspired by rainbows, wild animal mashups, pop-art – your imagination is your limit!
“Somewhere Over the Rainbow” can be horses inspired by anything in the Wizard of Oz fandom, from the L. Frank Baum book, the 1939 Judy Garland film, that weird sequel from 1985, or even Wicked.
Participants are welcome to use reference images, either printed or on a device, and include these references with their painted ponies for judging. All participants will receive a Stablemates model, paint and brushes from the Stablemates painting area, and just 60 minutes to complete their creations. No fancy paints or tools allowed!
Champions in each division will each receive one randomly-selected Stablemates model and two Reserve Champions in each division will each receive one randomly-selected Mini Whinnie model.

An important message regarding recent delays in order fulfillment.
These horses and their friends have made memories that will last a lifetime!
