Best of BreyerWest!

This past weekend, February 25-27, Breyer fans made their way to Denver, Colorado for BreyerWest, which was held in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo. Horse lovers of all ages were treated to fun model horse shows, free stablemates painting, workshops, free daily raffles, and more!

The BreyerWest Open Model Horse Show kicked off our weekend in full force. The 40 competitors certainly made it hard for our judges to pin each class. Everyone came ready to win and showed wonderful comradery. Along with the highly sought-after Overall Championships, every year the Spirit Award is given to a competitor who shows outstanding sportsmanship, support, and excitement for other participants. This year’s winner was Fabian R. for cheering on everyone, excitedly congratulating winners, and showing all competitors a high level of respect!

A special highlight of the weekend was that fans got to meet Thunder, the Denver Broncos Mascot! Rider Ann Judge was there signing autographs, answering questions, and taking pictures. Thunder even got to meet his model!

Attendees got a sneak peak of some of this year’s BreyerFest Special Run and Limited Edition models and lucky bidders walked away with some incredible offerings from the silent auction, which concluded Saturday afternoon. Some highlights of the auction included a Design Your Own Breyer, a rainbow appaloosa test deco for the Slainte Surprise, BreyerFest: Celtic Fling’s Surprise model on the Giselle mold, and full set of the BreyerFest: Horse of a Different Color Alternate Deco Special Run models.

Saturday was also a day full of creativity, with workshops and artist meet-and-greets galore. We welcomed Breyer artists Maggie Jenner-Bennett, Heather Puleo, and Myla Pearce on Saturday, along with Stephanie Blaylock, Mindy Berg, and Jennifer Scott on Sunday. Heather Malone of the Mares in Black was also onhand to answer everyone's questions about the world of the model horse hobby. Plus - what would be a BreyerWest event without cake? On Saturday, we celebrated our 2022 Premier Club finishwork artists, all of whom were in attendance.

On Sunday, the BreyerWest Youth and Novice Model Horse Show had its largest attendance ever! With 31 competitors it was a fun day of learning and showing. Everyone brought the best of their herd and gave the judges a hard time picking the winners.

Concluding the weekend was the first ever Stablemates painting competition. Artists had 90 minutes to paint a Stablemate model using only the paint and supplies given in the free Stablemate painting activity. The 30 participants proved this was not a problem and created some amazing realistic and non-realistic entries!
