Pteranodon were pterosaurs, not dinosaurs. Nonetheless, Pteranodon are frequently featured in dinosaur media and are strongly associated with dinosaurs by the general public. They were carnivorous creatures from the Upper Cretaceous period. Their name means Winged and Toothless.

Pteranodon had a long bony skull crest, which may have been used for stability in flight or as a rudder. It had a toothless beak, like the birds of today.
