The Premier Collection heads to the land down under for 2018's second release. The Australian Stock Horse was bred to work Australia's countryside, and is still favored by stockmen today. As their name suggests, Australian Stock Horses are working stock horses that are athletic, intelligent, and versatile. They can be found doing everything from working cattle on stations to performing dressage.
Dundee is a flashy Australian Stock Horse gelding. Dundee's show-stopping coat was created by artist Nikki Button. While this is Nikki's first piece with Breyer, she's well-known in the model horse community for her attention to detail and soft shading. Nikki's talent with pigments and soft pastels allowed her to create Dundee's realistic dunalino overo pinto coat. His coat has mapped markings, detailed eyes, striped hooves, ermine spots, and Australian Stock Horse brands on both shoulders! The BH is his "Stock Brand" (for Breyer Horses) and 2 over 8 is his identification number (2 for being the second release in the 2018 Premier Collection, and 8 for his "birth" year).
This sculpture puts Dundee's athleticism on display. Captured mid-stride, he looks intent on his work, and we can imagine excel in any discipline. He has the well-balanced body, deep chest, and strong build that are the hallmark characteristics of his breed. Dundee was sculpted by the same beloved Breyer artist who created the Premier Collection's Geronimo.
