The Sláinte Surprise Breakdown!

 

You probably remember us going a little nuts in 2019 to celebrate our 30th Anniversary with SIX different surprise model variations – we promise, we “reined” it in a little this year with our more traditional four variations. 

This year’s BreyerFest Celtic Fling Sláinte Surprise Model was on Brigitte Eberl’s lovely Warmblood Mare (also known as Giselle), mold #709, and was done a bit differently than in years past – each of the different decos has the same quantities!  A little more than two-thirds of each version were done in a matte finish, and the other third were done as glossies!

  • Golden palomino - 800 Matte, 325 Glossy
  • Bay leopard appaloosa - 800 Matte, 325 Glossy
  • Silver dapple black - 800 Matte, 325 Glossy
  • Red roan pinto - 800 Matte, 325 Glossy

I got the matte and the glossy roan pinto and the glossy Appaloosa. I traded the Appaloosa for the glossy Palomino and I am beyond happy with her, and the person I traded with loves her Appy. This virtual Breyerfest was SO much fun and I love everything I got from the store and my Special Runs. Thank you, Breyer!!

Today is my 71 birthday and I saved my Slainte Surprise to open today. It was a good surprise as I love mares and these are all winners. Of course I sigh for the silver but my glossy roan tobiano is lovely. 61 years ago I received the Arabian family in bay. I had already saved my dimes to buy Joy and was saving for Pride. I still have Sheikh but the mare and foal went to Marney in the ’70s to support my photo showing.

I received a matte palomino who is VERY pretty, and traded for a matte black silver, which is my favorite. Would like to eventually find a glossy of any of the colors except the appy. LOVE the mold choice – thanks, Breyer!

I didn’t want to get my hopes up, but my favorite of the bunch is the roan. I knew I’d be happy with any of these colors though! To my absolute delight, I squealed when I discovered I ended up with a matte roan and my hubby ended up with a glossy roan! <3

I miss there being an unrealistic color this year. I hope with next year’s theme we will see a decorator color brought back to the Surprise model lineup.
