Special Run Models – Revealed!

Special Run Models – Revealed!

Here at HQ, we know that Breyer fans are super sleuths!  We’ve had to go to some extreme lengths to keep you on your toes (remember that sneak peek for Kaleidoscope?) and keep you guessing until the big reveal!

Last week, we revealed the breakdown for the color variations of the Seven Arts Surprise Model – and were officially able to report that the name was, in fact, not a hint for the number of variations or anything else you might have suspected, as is generally the case with the Surprise Special Run Model.  For this Special Run,  the name is just a name.

This week, we are thrilled to be able to finally reveal how all of this year’s other Special Run models break out, now that it looks like all the variations have been revealed!

The first model we revealed to fans way back in January was Uffington, who was named after the very famous and ancient Uffington White Horse in Oxfordshire, England. In addition to the 1800 pieces of this model that were made in a stunning Cremello, we also created a horse of a different color and did an additional  200 pieces of Uffington as a surprise holographic silver deco, for a total run of 2,000 pieces.

The next model we revealed to fans Pech Merle, who was named after the French cave system that is home to beautiful, 25,000-year old equine cave art.  This bay semi-leopard appaloosa is also a buckskin semi-leopard appaloosa and is actually a 50/50 split – there are 950 of each color variation for a total of 1900 pieces.

Our 3rd model reveal was inspired by Leonardo’s Gran Cavallo sculpture, which he never actually completed during his lifetime!  1800 pieces of this handsome Peruvian Paso were done as a stunning liver chestnut sabino, but an additional  200 pieces of a horse of a different color were also created in a surprise metallic blue and purple colorshift deco, for a total run of 2,000 pieces.

Next, the handsome Seurat, whose many dapples were the inspiration for this horse’s name. As you might have guessed, he was this year’s glossy and matte finish split run to satisfy Team Matte and Team Glossy equally! 1,000 pieces of this model are matte and 1,000 pieces of this model are glossy.  All 2,000 are equally stunning.

Knossos, our fresco-inspired bull from the Palace of Knossos in Crete was the next to be revealed, and to clarify for those still wondering, it’s “Ken-ossus”, with a hard K, not a silent one. 1,000 pieces of this handsome non-equine were done as a wild-type Brindle Piebald bull, but an additional  200 pieces were created as a stunning gold piebald bull – for a total of 1,200 pieces.

If you were a super sleuth, you probably looked up where Tassili n’Ajjer was (it’s in Algeria), which this handsome model is named after, and immediately thought to yourself, “why would Breyer name a Marwari after a place in Algeria when there is so MUCH amazing art in India?” Well, the answer is – this fellow is a mane and tail split! 1,000 pieces of this lusciously glossy chestnut pinto are a Marwari and the other 1,000 are a stunning glossy chestnut pinto Barb, for a total run of 2,000 pieces.

Fan-favorite Pollock was next and this stunning model was inspired by the colors, splatters, and drips that make his namesake’s paintings famous!  As a surprise, we sneakily nestled in 200 pieces of a reverse version with a metallic gold pintaloosa pattern with variegated rainbow spots into the 1600 piece run. (This run is 1600 pieces, including the 200-piece alternate deco.)

For our last reveal, which Jaime and Kat shivered through outside on Facebook Live, they showed off Ansel, whose blue roan frame overo pinto pattern was inspired by the evocative black and white landscape photography of Ansel Adams. In addition to the 2,000 pieces we created of this version, we also created an additional  200-piece horse of a different color version in a stunning metallic blue frame overo pinto pattern, for a total run of 2,200 pieces.

Well done, Breyer! The original versions, variations, and splits are gorgeous. I hope you will use Uffington’s silver holographic deco on a Collector Club release and a regular run so everyone can enjoy that amazing colorway.
