Danash's Northern Tempest model on orange glitter background

Danash's Northern Tempest

Last Thursday we revealed that the flashy American Saddlebred Paddyngton’s Mark of Distinction will be joining us at BreyerFest 2025. Today’s guest horse reveal  is equally as flashy! The hunter ring is known for its tradition, and many of the horses you see are similar in color with many bays, greys, and chestnuts - but sometimes you just have to break from tradition. Appaloosa/Friesian cross Danash’s Northern Tempest and her owner Laura Reece have no problem doing just that!

First drawn to her striking leopard appaloosa markings, Laura purchased “Dani” as an unfinished 4-year-old. It’s unusual for an amateur to purchase an unfinished horse, but Dani’s easygoing demeanor and beautiful movement made their pairing a natural one. Being a cross of two stunning breeds, Dani gets both the Appaloosa’s gentle demeanor and willingness to learn and the Frisian’s athleticism and versatility, making her a force to be reckoned with in the show ring!

Dani and Laura have many championships titles under their name in the Rusty Stirrup. Many other talented riders have taken the reins and accumulated top placings with Dani in the USHJA 3' division, Green Hunter 3', Derby, Equitation, and Dressage. Laura shares, “Every time we school or compete, we both learn something new. I think that's the beauty of competing as an Adult Amateur - I’m here for the fun of it.” That refreshing perspective is part of this pair’s appeal, and from Dani’s Instagram following to the pair gracing the cover of Wellington the Magazine, it’s obvious that others see it too!

Since becoming the BreyerFest 2021: Horse of a Different Color Celebration Horse, Dani has acquired fans from all over the world who follow her journey. This pair continues to show others that your differences help make you shine at your brightest. Laura and Dani are excited to return to BreyerFest and see all their beloved fans again!

So excited to have Dani coming back!!!

How awesome! Many people who didn’t get to see her in-person previously (myself included) will be happy to meet this amazing horse!

Speaking of which, here’s an idea: This would be a great time to search the warehouse for any remaining portrait models of the returning guest horses and sell them early in the Breyer Store. It would be reminiscent of NPOD, and the sale demand for these models would be high considering that people like to hold the portrait models when being photographed with the guest horses. I guess it would all depend on feasibility, and I know the selection of remaining portrait models (if any) would be very limited, but it sure would be a neat way to pay homage to Breyer’s history and the BreyerFests of the past!
