BreyerFest Events Team - Our Favorite Moments

We all know the BreyerFest schedule is absolutely packed - from model horse shows to shopping to live horse demonstrations, there is something going on every minute of the three-day weekend. It's a horse and model horse lover's paradise.

But what does BreyerFest look like through the eyes of Jaime and Kathryn - the team that lives and breathes BreyerFest all year long? The BreyerFest Blog writers sat down with the Events Team to talk about their favorite moments at the event this year. They also shared some of their favorites photos from the weekend.

Jaime: BreyerFest means so much to me, where do I even start!? I joined the Events team in 2010 and have had the incredible pleasure of bringing this magical world to life for the last eight years. Each year I try to spend a few moments in the Covered Arena watching the arena demonstrations and the crowds of people enjoying the horses being presented. The first time I hear the crowd erupt into applause or cheer someone on is very emotional for me. After months and months of planning, hearing the guests enjoying themselves is all I can ask for.

I love that BreyerFest has something for everyone. A family just getting to know Breyer can come and enjoy a fun day out with the pony rides, Stablemates painting, entertainment in Celebration Park, and the hundreds of beautiful horses. A diehard collector can show their best string and spend an entire weekend digging through thousands of vintage finds in the Vendor Marketplace.

I am most impressed, however, with the participants of the model horse shows. The information that the showers bring to this event is mind-blowing to me! I would bet on an avid model horse shower over any professional horseperson in an equine themed trivia contest any day of the week. 

Kathryn: One of my favorite moments every year is going out to see the lines on Friday morning before the gates open. There is such electricity in the air from all the excitement and anticipation and it's a real moment of truth for me - all the hard work we've put into this event in the last year is about to come to life. This event is for the fans and the greatest validation for all the work that goes into BreyerFest is that the fans have a good time and make great memories.

This year specifically, I think my favorite experiences were getting to meet some of the legendary women in the world of horseracing - Donna Brothers, Blyther Miller-Davies, Monnie Goetz, and Marion Altieri. Each has an incredible story to tell.

As well, I love the costume contest. It's amazing to see how participants bring to life each year's theme - and this year there were so many possibilities! The derby hats were really cool and the way people brought to life their favorite horseracing moments was so inventive.

The events team is already working hard on plans for 2019. We can't wait to see what BreyerFest's Salute to Horse Heroes brings!
